Company History

In 1974 Senior Anasis purchased his first truck a 1970 Commer and started delivering furniture in the Brunswick area; his first contracts were for a company who made dressing tables and wardrobes.

These were exciting and busy times with small furniture makers springing up all over the Northern suburbs, as an influx of immigrants began coming to Australia in search of a better life.

As an excited 8 year old I traveled all over Melbourne delivering furniture with my father. During the early to mid seventies, I can clearly recall my father having to refuse work when ever we pulled up to off load or load at the many companies he contracted for. My father was delivering Four N Twenty pies from 3am through till 6am with a contract which was offered to him whilst dropping off furniture opposite the Four N Twenty pie factory. On his weekends off he delivered bread for Golden Top Bakeries on Sydney Road, Coburg between the hours of 3am and 6 am, and is now a parts factory.

On one of his regular trips to the Four N Twenty factory, management offered to restore his truck in all the glory of their Company colours and have Senior Anasis become a promotional vehicle, unfortunately after thinking about the benefits of a restored truck, the thought came to mind that this would be confusing for his clients, so he decided to sadly say no.

In 1984, the transport industry had taken a turn for the worst and contracts were becoming a thing of the past. Image and new trucks were fast becoming a vital point for cliental. Senior Anasis sadly loved his little truck and was not prepared to part with it for contract or work. So, the choice was made. He would venture out on his own, and commit to furniture removals with his good old fashioned service with a smile, and a bottle of wine for the celebration of their new home.

By the end of 1984, I had finished my studies at Coburg High School and enrolled in the study of architectural design.  I did this for 6 months. For the next eighteen months I was unemployed. In the year of 1984, Senior Anasis retired his little truck, and two years later after much thought I started up dads pride and joy, his 1970 Commer and began the journey once again.

Our service was a great success and before I knew it I had purchased a brand new truck of my own, and so the Company began.

Today we have a staff of 10 who we know offer the same service today as dad and I have offered from the very beginning, it’s a big part of our success. We still give our clients a bottle of wine.

If any body is wondering what happened to the Commer, its sitting at the back of the work shop covered up.
